If you live here, you already know the drill. Every few months a storefront papers over its windows, and by the time the paper comes down, the sign belongs to a brand you recognize from somewhere else. That is the pattern worth naming this summer. The Ventura Boulevard openings landing between June and September 2026 are not scrappy first-time concepts. They are established operators, some of them decades old, moving into spaces vacated by independents. If you are choosing where to eat this Tuesday, that pattern changes what you should expect from the block.
The Return-Engagement Summer
Consider the roster. Hoodline reported in April that Greco's, family-run since 1979 with existing locations in Hollywood and Tarzana, is reopening on Woodman Avenue. This is not Greco's first move into the neighborhood. Greco's first expanded into Sherman Oaks in 1992 with a shop on Van Nuys Boulevard, and that earlier location closed in 2016. The new address at 4319 Woodman Ave will offer slices, 28-inch pies and late-night hours, moving into the roughly 1,000-square-foot storefront that last housed Santino's NY Pizza, which shut down at the end of March.
A few blocks west, the same story with a Mexican accent. Gloria by La Era will open this summer at 13944 Ventura Blvd in the space that was formerly home to Gracefully Fed, a bakery and cafe that closed last October. The parent brand, Pastelerías La Era, is a bakery in Mexico expanding to Los Angeles this year with a new concept, and La Era has multiple locations throughout Mexico, with 20 spots listed on the brand's Instagram page.
Then there is the big one at the east end of Restaurant Row. Yama Sushi Marketplace will open a 7,200 sq ft Sherman Oaks location at 15300 Ventura Blvd late summer 2026, adding a full bar and a larger kitchen for catering. Permits and build-out are still in progress and there is no firm opening date yet. If you have driven past that address recently and wondered what the construction was, that is it.

Notice the middle column. Two of these are direct replacements for concepts that could not hold the rent. When a chain-adjacent operator with a proven playbook moves into a space where an independent could not survive, the underlying signal is about foot traffic economics on Ventura, not about food trends. The block rewards operators who already have a supply chain, a catering arm, and the staffing depth to open five days a week without stumbling.
The Sitcom Cameo on Restaurant Row
The most on-brand story of the summer belongs to HoneyBaked. Leslie David Baker, who played the famously deadpan Stanley on NBC's long-running workplace sitcom The Office, has become the co-owner of a new HoneyBaked Ham location in Sherman Oaks. The shop, at 14427 Ventura Boulevard, quietly opened on June 22, with an official grand opening celebration scheduled for July 11. Baker is partnering on the venture with Sherman Oaks entrepreneur, music producer and brand strategist Tony Vennie.
If you were wondering what the store actually does beyond the holiday-ham association, the Sherman Oaks store serves sandwiches, salads, heat-and-serve family meals, desserts and catering for office lunches and events. Read that list again. It is a lunch shop with a catering pipeline. The neighborhood's home offices and small production companies are the customer, not just the Thanksgiving crowd.
Two other names to track from the smaller-format wave. Burger She Wrote confirmed a second location for Sherman Oaks in May, according to Hypebeast. And per the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association's February 2026 newsletter, Red Window Coffee, the tiny but beloved coffee hut that started at the front of the Iroha parking lot, has made the leap to a brick-and-mortar shop now located at 13365 Ventura Blvd, near Menchie's.
What Doesn't Change
New signage moves quickly here. The rhythm underneath it does not.
- Tuesday afternoons. The Sherman Oaks Farmers Market runs each Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Fashion Square mall at 14006 Riverside Dr. PD Markets established the operation in 1991, and it is one of the few weekday markets in the Valley with a consistent live-music slot.
- Restaurant Row anchors. Bacari Sherman Oaks at 14106 Ventura, the sixth restaurant of the Kronfli Brothers group, features Venetian-inspired small plates by Chef Lior Hillel, with an indoor Parlour Room, a Sunroom, and outdoor patios. Down the street, Petit Trois Le Valley, the second outpost of Chef Ludo Lefebvre's bistro, opened in 2018 with a marble bar, banquette-lined dining room, and a Chef's counter overlooking the open kitchen, and earned the Bib Gourmand designation upon the Michelin Guide's return to Los Angeles in 2019.
- The Christian trio. Casita is the sister restaurant to Taisho Japanese Restaurant & Bar and BLVD Steak, all located on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, giving you three distinct rooms from the same operator within walking distance of each other. BLVD Steak sits on Restaurant Row at 13817 Ventura, with rich tones of emerald, black and gold, indoor seating, outdoor patios and private dining rooms.
- The century-old shop. Baxter Northrop Music Company at 14534 Ventura Blvd first opened its doors in 1906, making it one of the oldest businesses in all Southern California, offering everything from sheet music and instruments to private music lessons for all ages.
The pattern to notice is that Restaurant Row's most-cited names are all clustered inside a mile. Between BLVD Steak at 13817 and Yama's incoming space at 15300, you can walk to five distinct dinner concepts without moving your car. That density is what makes the Farmers Market slot on Tuesdays functional. You can pick up dinner ingredients at Fashion Square and still be home before the school pickup window closes.
If You Live Here, Here Is Your Week
Some concrete moves for a normal Sherman Oaks week between now and September:
- Tuesday, 3 to 7 p.m. Fashion Square lot for the Farmers Market. Bring a tote for the produce and a few dollars for the live band's tip jar.
- Wednesday lunch. HoneyBaked at 14427 for a sandwich or an office catering trial run. If you have a small team meeting, this is the closest new option for a boxed-lunch pickup.
- Thursday early evening. Bacari at 14106 for small plates before the reservation crush. Walk-ins are welcome, and the Sunroom is usually the last to fill.
- Friday late night. Greco's at 4319 Woodman when it reopens. Late-night hours matter here because most Restaurant Row kitchens close by 10:30 on weekdays.
- Saturday morning. Coffee at the new Red Window brick-and-mortar at 13365 Ventura, then a walk east toward Vitello's and the older stretch of the boulevard.
- Sunday. Reserve Petit Trois early if you want the counter. The bar seats fill first, and the Chef's counter is the actual show.
The Undercurrent
The through-line for a resident is that Ventura's summer 2026 lineup is a legacy-brand summer. You are not being asked to bet on a new operator's first quarter. You are being handed a set of proven concepts that already understand catering, late-night volume, and multi-location supply. That is a quieter kind of good news than a splashy debut, and it is the kind of news that tends to stick.
